This past Saturday night at the East Coast Wrestling Association’s Super 8 Tournament 2026 was a banner night for Ichiban, the masked superstar who overcame all the odds to win, defeating the fantastic TJ Crawford in the finals.
However, surprisingly, it was a return of confidence and success to one Chris “Clutch” Rockwell.
After the improbable and unbelievable ECWA Tag Team Championship win of Joey Ace and President Cheyenne Ortiz on November 8, 2025 in Morganville, NJ, Rockwell, alongside his partner and current ECWA Heavyweight Champion L.A. Vin, picked up his first victory in over three years, getting the fall to win the Tag Team Titles in a match that included Reggie’s Court and the Backyarders.
However, almost immediately following the finals of the tournament, Clutch got a camera and proceeded to call his shot.
He challenged “the King of Old School” and new PWF Undisputed Champion Steve Corino!
Corino, who last wrestled in 2021 in a classic battle against his son Colby and is a coach for WWE’s Performance Center, returned to in-ring competition at the Premier Wrestling Association’s 25th Anniversary Show on February 22, 2026 in Newport, NC and defeated champion Kaitlyn Marie in a shocker. He then proclaimed that he wasn’t going anywhere and that he would be a fighting champion.
Once the new ECWA Tag Team Champion received word of this, he unleashed his feelings.
Rockwell offered his congratulations, but then issued a challenge. Anywhere, anytime for the “King of Old School”. Clutch then threw out one curveball in the equation, asking how would he get Corino’s attention.
He pulled out his wild card: the World-1 Championship belt.

Back in 2001, Corino founded and began the PWF in the Pennsylvania region. A plethora of talent walked through the PWF doors, including Zero-One talent from Japan, NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion Shinya Hashimoto, CW Anderson, Nova, the great “Guillotine” LeGrande, and Christopher Daniels.
Corino then rebranded and started the World-1 Wrestling promotion in 2004. Linked with Zero-One, the promotion gained cult relevance in the Pennsylvania region. Yet, in a couple years, the PWF emerged again and both PWF & World-1 became separate entities. Ultimately, PWF relocated to North Carolina in the late 2010s and World-1 moved into New Jersey until 2019, when it ceased operations.
Rockwell became a prominent star for both promotions, winning both singles and tag team championships in both. He also really looked up to Corino as a mentor in professional wrestling.
Now, back on the winning side of things, Clutch Rockwell is calling his shot against the “King of Old School”, holding onto a symbol of a brand that Steve Corino founded, the World-1 Championship. Will this entice the thirty-year veteran to accept his challenge? Or will Rockwell continue to goad his once mentor into a fight that will change everything?
Stay tuned to this news story as it develops.
