THE ECWA PRESIDENT LOOKING TO BE A TWO-TIME TAG TEAM CHAMPION AT "CHEY-BOREE"
Look, I’ve known Cheyenne Ortiz for a long time. Longer than people realize.
From ring announcing Middle Village Wrestling events at the ACE Arena in Union City, NJ, to becoming the voice of ACE, and everywhere in between, the man eats, breathes, and sleeps professional wrestling. It’s in his DNA.
However, for the first time ever, I think the current President of the ECWA is a wee bit over his head.
Last year, Cheyenne and Joey Ace, in the vein of Mean Gene Okerlund and Hulk Hogan from the mid-1980s in Minneapolis, shocked the entire ECWA and won the ECWA Tag Team Titles from the Backyarders at Night of Unusual Matches on November 8.
After losing the belts to Clutch Rockwell and ECWA Heavyweight Champion L.A. Vin at the 30th Annual Super 8 Tournament on March 14, and surviving the Pretzel Deathmatch against King Reginald at PretzelMania VIII, I figured Cheyenne would finally retire and end his wrestling career.
I was 100% wrong.
At Chey-boree on September 12, 2026 at the Jersey Dugout in Marlboro, NJ, Cheyenne, on his birthday, gave himself his mandatory rematch at the ECWA Tag Team Titles against Abs Armstrong & Travis Lee.
His partner?
ECWA broadcaster Will Strouse!
Mr. Strouse, to my knowledge, has never been an active professional wrestler. In fact, until a few weeks ago, that never crossed his mind. Until Cheyenne, in many words, forced Will’s hand.
Now, we are in a wild situation. Could the Backyarders be suffering a case of Groundhog Day as it comes to Cheyenne Ortiz and the Tag Team Titles? Could lightning strike TWICE?
Be there and celebrate Cheyenne’s birthday on September 12. I just hope that Cheyenne gets rid of what Rowdy Roddy Piper called “the Sickness” and stays out of harms way.
