Earlier today at the Ryogoku Kokugiakan in Tokyo, Japan, history was made when Shane Haste shocked the wrestling world and defeated Yoshiki Inamura for the GHC Heavyweight Championship in a thirty-minute classic, becoming the third non-Japanese performer to hold the prestigious title.
Something more revolutionary happened in the semi-main event moments before.
GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion Dragon Bane called his shot against GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion AMAKUSA for weeks now, and tonight, he got his long awaited opportunity at him.
Bane and AMAKUSA completely laid it all on the line, utilizing high-impact strikes and death-defying leaps to the floor. At one point, Dragon Bane delivered a picture perfect moonsault to the floor, and his momentum caused him to land on Japanese legend and NOAH Scouting Advisor Keiji Muto, who was sitting at the Japanese commentary table.

“The Evangelist” and “the King of the Air” put all of their big offenses out there. Everyone thought Bane had the match won multiple times when he delivered both a top-rope reverse Poison Rana and a Shooting Star Press, which he used to win the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles. However, AMAKUSA kicked out valiantly.

At the end of the day, it took an incredible spinning electric chair driver in the center of the ring from the masked warrior to get the three count.
DRAGON BANE IS THE NEW GHC JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!
Bane was instantly confronted by EITA, the two-time former Jr. Heavyweight Champion, who called his shot on a future date.
However, Dragon Bane has made NOAH history thanks to his championship win tonight.
He is the first man in NOAH history to hold the GHC Junior Heavyweight Singles and Tag Team Titles at the same time. Many have come close, but no one in the illustrious history of the Junior Heavyweight division has done it. Not KENTA. Not Marufuji. Not Ishimori. Not Nakajima, Harada, or Kanemaru. Dragon Bane, the spectacular Mexico City luchadore, is onto an island of his own.
He truly is the King of NOAH’s Juniors. He is THE Ace.
