I have followed Steve Off’s career from basically its beginnings in professional wrestling.

I actually own the infamous Bodyslam Wrestling Organization War Games DVD where Steve pinned Julio Dinero in front of 2000 fans. I have watched him grow as a competitor through BWO Heavyweight and Tag Team Title reigns. I’ve seen him wrestle in Maine, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and even a one-off team with 2Hot Steve Scott for Jersey Wrestling Elite in the legendary ACE Arena in Union City, NJ.

To me, Steve is the personification of resilience and dedication. That is what we see with Pro Wrestling Magic currently.

There is also a bit of stubbornness in Steve. Sure, in a deal with Mateo Marcelos & El Pacto Diabolico several months back, he tried to swerve Marcelos in a contract he signed as “Mike Hunt”. But as stubborn as he was, he still got “got”, thanks to a loophole found by Journey Burke, ESQ, which made Mateo co-owner of Pro Wrestling Magic.

Now, this Saturday night in East Rutherford, NJ, at the East Rutherford YMCA for Kingdom Come X, Steve is preparing to go one-on-one with Marcelos in an absolute grudge match for the Pro Wrestling Magic Dark Arts Championship. This will be a war.

To me, as an unbiased writer, Steve is going to need to fight fire-with-fire against Marcelos this Saturday. Mateo is crafty, sneaky, and, at times, impervious to pain. He is going to have to dig down deep. He’s going to have to rediscover that resilience and dedication to dominance. He’s even going to have to be a little more stubborn.

He’s going to have to rediscover the OLD Steve Off.

There is no match better to showcase the OLD Steve than against one of the most physical, unorthodox wrestlers of the days of BWO’s past: JOEY DA BULL.

To understand what Steve was up against, Joey Da Bull was a monster of a man. An old school brawler, there was no finesse to his game, just smash mouth fighting. The master of the club, Bull did not care about putting on classic matches; he just cared about hurting people and taking the winner’s purse.

In this match from Beach Party back in 2010, Steve faced insurmountable odds, but refused to back down. He took a beating and kept on ticking. A certain play-by-play commentator noticed that, in spite of the late, great Tony Schoff’s disapproval.

Even after a disqualification ending, Steve took an onslaught. But HE GOT BACK UP. He wanted more. The fire in his eyes was a tell for vengeance.

If Steve Off finds his OLD self this Saturday night against Mateo Marcelos, the weaselly leader of El Pacto Diabolico will be in for a night of pain. He needs to channel this anger and fight that he had against Joey Da Bull in 2010.

This Saturday for Kingdom Come X will be absolutely fantastic.
