Pro Wrestling Magic brought its July spectacular (Welcome Home) Sanitarium to the Meadowlands YMCA in East Rutherford, NJ tonight and it definitely brought chaos to this hot yet rainy Saturday.
Here are the results from this event:
The Leather Jacket Mafia exploded, as “the Sun of Wrestling” Vincent Michaels and Franco Costanzo went to war in our opening contest. Costanzo, the Southpaw from the South Bronx, really brought his A game, and Michaels knew it. At one point, Michaels tried to get himself disqualified, but PWM General Manager Shane Fair decided to restart the match. As “the Sun of Wrestling” ran into the ring, Costanzo, with his Horace Grant goggles allowing him to see clearly, absolutely knocked Michaels into next week with his South Bronx Lariat and picked up the victory. With the restart of the contest counting the match anew, Franco Costanzo has the FASTEST WIN in Pro Wrestling Magic history!
In a match with Heavyweight Fastpass implications, Michael Fain, the newest member of the Pro Wrestling Magic roster, faced off with the vile Eden of El Pacto Diabolico. These two men had fisticuffs as a part of “The Final Showdown” last month, with Vi Daniel winning the Junior Heavyweight Championship. Both men went blow for blow with one another, bringing the fight. Fain really went toe-to-toe with the diabolical Eden, even as he fought from behind against the despicable masked rudo. Midway through, one of the top turnbuckle pads came loose. Fain didn’t quit and kept fighting. Just as Fain was about to get a pinball win, Johnny Vega, one of EPD’s demons, made his way to the ring to stop the count. While the referee was distracted, Fain was bumrushed into the exposed steel, and Eden took full advantage with a Pepsi Twist and finished off an injured Fain with a Rings of Saturn for the submission win and the Dark Arts Fastpass.
An ever-evolving evil, Mateo Marcelos, the leader of EPD, made his way to the ring for his Open Challenge. It was responded to by “The Cause of It All” Joey Conway. Both dark-minded individuals, this match quickly degenerated into Bruja Rules: no disqualification. However, every weapon rolled in by Mateo, Conway rolled it right out. The uber tough Conway really brought the pain, but Marcelos, in his own sick psyche, laughed and laughed as the punishment continued. At the end of the battle, after several counters, Mateo hit his Combinación Diabólica - two arm breaking stomps, a curb stomp, and then a Rocker Dropper - for the three count and the victory.
In a four-way fray, Jacob Tarasso, Jeff the Skywalker, “the Brooklyn Outlaw” Donovan, and Smiley went to war using the air and the ground for attack. Donovan and Smiley, the two Magic veterans, went right to work on the cocky Skywalker and Tarasso right away. However, Jeff the Skywalker displayed his aerial maneuvers and Tarasso used his methodical nature to gain full control. Once the contest began to get down to the nitty gritty, it became every man for himself. One of the coolest moves of the match was Smiley countering a Buff Blockbuster from the Skywalker into a Brainbuster! However, the mouthy Skywalker took one too many illegal tactics to “the Brooklyn Outlaw”, leveling him with a South Side Knock Out for the win. A very fun match.
In a match for the PWM Tag Team Championships, REAL, not fake, ABBS and Big Game Leroy got a shot against Justin Vayne & the returning to action Ray Ray Marz. EPD used the “Freebird Rules” to make their defense. Some of the most unorthodox tag team work was used by ABBS and Leroy, including a Nintendo Switch and various abdominal maneuvers that need to be seen to be believed. However, once the shenanigans were over, Vayne and Double R took firm control. Big Game Leroy took one heck of a beating, but got a 1UP of energy and fought his way to make a tag to ABBS. After a series of great moves, Vayne and an angry Marz got control. Marz demanded Vayne finish the match, which he did with a vicious DDT and got the pinfall. Almost immediately in the entranceway, the Sons of Old School of Dan Murdoch & Steve Off confronted the champs in the long-term feud between “the Starkiller” and El Pacto Diabolico. EPD backed down. However, this bled right into…
The Sons of Old School vs Eddie Thomas and Eric Corvis - the Princes of the Universe. After an early schmozz, “the American Outlaw” Murdoch gained control with a running hurricanrana. However, the Princes got control on Off following a double team move. The New Jersey cult icon Corvis kept running his mouth and unloading fresh innovative offense to the founder of the Magic Kingdom. Thomas went for the kill with a fireman’s carry, but got caught with an STO. As Steve went for a tag, Corvis pulled Murdoch off the apron! The assault continued until the flashy Princes got too overconfident. Murdoch was a proverbial house of fire, even delivering a fallaway slam to Corvis, his long-time rival. It eventually broke down into a free-for-all bedlam with all four men. After Thomas got caught with a chair, Steve received a BOOK from a fan behind the referee’s back and leveled Corvis! Murdoch then nailed an All-American Knockout to Corvis for the three and the retention of the Tag Team Fastpass!
The Women’s Division had a match for the Women Fastpass, as the Jersey Shore’s Lucky Leone faced off with “the Cotton Candy Princess” Tiffani Avatar, former PWM Women’s Champion, and “the Five Star Athlete” Ruthie Jay. This match was fast-paced and hard-hitting, as the winner would receive a guaranteed shot at Tiphani Grady’s Women’s Championship. At one point, the tattooed Leone gained full control and dominated both Jay and Avatar with high impact moves, but could not get a pinfall. The beloved “Cotton Candy Princess” tried everything in her power to get the victory, but at the end of the day, Ruthie dominated, and after repositioning shoulders for the referee, picked up the win and the Women’s Fastpass!
In the main event for the PWM Heavyweight Championship, “the Good Guy” Azrieal defended the gold against his long time friend and professional rival Rob Vegas. Vegas initially tried to swerve Azrieal and just not wrestle, but he played Az with a schoolboy rollup pin attempt. Finally, the incredible technical Vegas and the wily champion began a game of human chess, trying to one-up one another inside the ropes. Both friends pounded on one another, all in the name of the Heavyweight Gold. After a series of counters, Vegas caught Azrieal in the CHECKMATE, his variation of the Texas Cloverleaf, but the champ got to the ropes. Vegas kept on the offensive, and went to use the title belt on Azrieal. Referee Taylor Danielson took the belt away, but behind his back, Vegas low-blowed him for a two-count! When tried again, Az hit a low-blow of his hold and only got TWO off his Frog Splash! Not wasting a moment, “the Good Guy” hit his second in row, getting the three and a successful championship defense. Eden and EPD didn’t even give the Champ a second to breathe, laying out Azrieal and leaving him prone.
Pro Wrestling Magic returns to East Rutherford on August 15 with All Nightmare Long, including Azrieal vs Eden for the PWM Heavyweight Title, the Sons of Old School vs Justin Vayne & Ray Ray Marz for the PWM Tag Team Titles, plus so much more!
