MARVELOUS MARCUS JOHNSON WINS AMW SOUTHEASTERN TITLE LAST NIGHT ON SHOWDOWN
Last night on Appalachian Mountain Wrestling Showdown, history was made.
“The Prospector” Wes Barker defended his AMW Southeastern Championship against rising young upstart Marvelous Marcus Johnson. Barker had made his fair share of enemies in AMW over the past few years, including one in beloved fan favorite Marty Clay.
The fans really wanted to see the Canadian rebel-rouser get his.
Oh, did he.
In an absolutely fantastic main event, Johnson and Barker went toe-to-toe. Reminding this writer of an old school Jim Crockett Promotions style match, Barker hung in there with Johnson with unlimited energy.

In an absolutely fantastic main event, Johnson and Barker went toe-to-toe. Reminding this writer of an old school Jim Crockett Promotions style match, Barker hung in there with Johnson with unlimited energy.
Both men withstood the other’s finishing hold. Marvelous survived a Bigfoot Boot, while Barker barely kicked out of Johnson’s breathtaking Blockbuster.
Near the end of the contest, with the referee accidentally taken out, “the Prospector” delivered another Bigfoot Boot right upside Marvelous’ head. Barker then went and grabbed his Southeastern Championship, preparing to lay out the challenger.
Then, in a flash, Clay made his way to the ring and grabbed the title out of Barker’s hands. Johnson then delivered a beautiful Codebreaker. Clay leveled Barker with the Southeastern Championship, and a Marvelous Superman Punch put the Canadian down. The referee came to and counted down the shoulders of Barker for three.
MARVELOUS MARCUS JOHNSON IS THE NEW AMW SOUTHEASTERN CHAMPION!
The future is bright for AMW with Marvelous Marcus Johnson as a titleholder. For Wes Barker, it might be a different story. You will find out in the coming days on Hardway HQ.
