MARUFUJI RETAINS GHC NATIONAL TITLE IN 1ST DEFENSE

Pro Wrestling NOAH legend Naomichi Marufuji continues to astound professional wrestling fans with his limitless ability to overcome and dominate.

Yesterday, during an event on the Lethal Odyssey Tour in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan, the current GHC National Champion made his first defense of his title against Team 2000X’s Tadasuke.

Almost immediately, the mind games and manipulation of Team 2000X made an impact early. When YOSHITATSU distracted the referee, Tadasuke grabbed a steel chair, smacked it on the canvas, tossed it to Marufuji, and feigned injury. When the referee turned around, Marufuji began pleading innocence. “The Outcast” dropkicked the champion into the referee, and the pack of wolves mentality kicked in, as all members of Team 2000X began laying boots to the prone legend.

Marufuji demanded that the challenger bring it, and boy, did he ever. Tadasuke laid out a methodical attack, backdropping AND DDTing him on the apron, and then once outside the ring, whipped him into a row of chairs. Even as Marufuji gained a tad piece of control, Team 2000X AGAIN attacked him while the referee’s back was turned.

The cocky Tadasuke began working over the knees of Marufuji, complete with leglocks. The champion fought through the pain with some fighting spirit, getting back up and throwing some vicious kicks. When the champion did go for Shiranui initially, his legs gave out. However, he got control a few moments later and planted the challenger.

His big mistake was picking up Tadasuke as he went for the pin. When Marufuji went for more, YOSHITATSU distracted the referee, leading to a back attack and a running knee for a two count.

The champion persevered and locked on his Perfect Small Package, but as the referee made his count, YOSHITATSU pulled the referee out and Tadasuke hit a low blow! After a two-count, Tadasuke delivered a vicious lariat, but against all odds, Marufuji kicked out again.

With adrenaline running through his veins, Marufuji dug down deep, delivering some vicious knees and kicks, and locked on the jujigatime front chancery for the submission win!

MARUFUJI RETAINED THE CHAMPIONSHIP!

Another classic match from a classic NOAH competitor. Marufuji continues to defy the odds.

Go watch this match on Wrestle Universe. You will not be disappointed.
