Zayda Steel and Marcus Mathers: #WWEID at the IGB
Last night at the H20 Wrestling Center, a dream tag team match took place at IGB 21: SUPERCREAM, as Stan Stylez, the leader of the Creamy World Order and the corrupt Boss of the Bonanza, teamed up with independent wrestling standout "the Real Deal" Zayda Steel to face IGB Super Champion "Your Hero" Airica Demia and "Philly's Finest" Marcus Mathers.
To the Intergender Bonanza faithful, it was a grudge match near two years in the making.
To the independent wrestling scene, this was a battle with two top independent wrestling prospects.
Over the past month, the WWE began its "WWEID" program, linking up with prominent wrestling schools across the United States, as well as respected independent wrestling promotions, scouting the best talent and providing them with an opportunity to get on the right path towards becoming a WWE talent.
In other words, it's a modern day developmental contract.
Zayda Steel has really put the work in over the past twelve months. Earlier this year, Steel made an excursion to the MARIGOLD promotion in Japan, which hosts the top Joshi talent in the world. Gaining perspective in a new style of wrestling, "the Real Deal" has used it to propel her to new heights, including opportunities with Major League Wrestling and BEYOND Wrestling.
Marcus Mathers, a prodigy out of Philadelphia and a second generation wrestler, has really broken out of the pack over the past two years. Breaking out in 2021 as a part of the IGB, H2O, Game Changer Wrestling, MLW, Beyond, and Dreamwave have all been blessed with his ever-growing skillset.
Last night, both Steel and Mathers had an opportunity to test each other in the ring - both were equally talented and didn't back down an inch. At the end of the night, however, Steel was on the winning end of their tag team match when Stylez pinned the reigning Super Champion Demia.
With the road to future stardom limitless at this given moment, the fans were truly the winners. Steel and Mathers in the same ring at the same time for possibly the final time. Legendary moment.
The WWEID is for real.
The match will be available on IWTV in their archive for IGB 21: SuperCream.
